Garden Row 1

This row is covered, as a permanent solution to employing cumbersome, awkward and unattractive plastic sheeting.  Initially, it was built to protect tomatoes when extending their season into fall.

What we have learned about this row is, since they are the farthest northernmost beds, they get more shade than we anticipated.  They don't do well with tomatoes, sadly.  Of the two beds (east and west), tomatillos do well enough in the west one.  The system is suggesting that the east bed will do better with a tall or climbing cooler weather crop.  Peas, perhaps.  An experiment is in order...
