Renee's Garden fennel weeds are now past ready to be removed. As we don't have a taker, sadly it has become a problem item. However, credit to Renee as due; it grew well and flourished! The opportunity to learn how to use fennel (pesto, rice, soup, sautee mix, roast, etc.) has been super enjoyable.
Beets on the outsides are shorter, theoretically. Carrots to the inside of that are potentially accessed less and somewhat taller (?). Finally, in the middle is a space for climbers. This is the shady Row 1 Bed B (east) that gets the least sun exposure :-( One or possibly two rows of peas could go in the center. The cattle panels would keep them corralled. As the bed is covered and they like it cool, they could go late into the year. I wonder how long they would last? :-D
The label should be present, which *should* say the date these were planted. My guess is March. They are looking somewhat promising. I bet they need more water. Since this bed is covered, it tends to need (obviously) more time on the watering system than the other rows, which haven't even been turned on yet for the year. There are also dry zones which need monitoring by hand. Hoses with sprayers are in place...
Row 1A, tomatillos. Renee's Garden Bronze non-bulbing fennel needs to go. Lettuce in front of that is short. On the agenda; replace fennel with extra tomatillo starts... I gotta get outside :-D !!!
Looks pretty nice. Now the sun needs to come out!
